Mammographer required

Mammographer required

We have a job in for a Mammographer for a Hospital in Cork.

This Mammographer would rotate through all modalities. 

There is a rota for on-call which starts at 5pm Monday to Friday, Saturday the Mammographer

 would work 9.30am to 12.30pm and on call for rest of weekend.

During the week this Mammographer would go on once or twice a month and for weekend on-call once every 3 months approx.

The modalities the Mammographer would not be covering are Ultrasound, MRI and Nuclear Medicine.
                 
It is a permanent position with 12 months probation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and control of the Radiographic Services Manager, the Senior Radiographer/Ultrasonographer will be responsible for assisting in the provision of an efficient, effective and caring Radiography and Imaging service in the department and in line with the Hospital’s Mission Statement. The duties and responsibilities include the following;
1. To organise/supervise/perform radiographic/ultrasound/imaging/interventional procedures according to any protocols provided and to supervise staff as appropriate.
2. To assist in the daily operational management of the services.
3. To maintain high standards of patient care and technique.
4. To keep abreast of, and embrace where appropriate, current techniques and developments.
5. To assist in the education and training of staff as appropriate and encourage professional development.
6. To adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines and any Hospital and Department protocols.
7. To ensure that Radiation Protection rules are applied at all times and to be familiar with and comply with National Ionising Radiation Legislation  -currently document S.I. no. 478 of 2002 and SI 125.
8. To participate in the current out of hours emergency services roster as required.
9. To be observant in relation to equipment faults and errors and report all defects or occurrences to the Superintendent Radiographer.
10. To participate in all Quality Assurance Programmes as required.
11. To attend relevant post-graduate courses.
12. To adhere to the professional guidelines laid down by the Irish Institute of Radiographers.
13. To perform any other duties in the Diagnostic Imaging Department deemed appropriate to the grade by the Radiographic Service Manager.
14. The post holder may be required, from time to time, to deputise for a Clinical Specialist appropriate to the grade by the Radiographic Services Manager.
15. To ensure that the principles of radiation protection ALARA are adhered to and to obey local rules in relation to same.

                                              
 Essential Requirements 

Education
 1.BSc in Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers or a qualification that is equivalent to the above and this qualification should be validated by the Irish Institute of Radiographers.
 1. Be a member of the Irish Institute of Radiographers.

Experience and course completed in Mammography

Experience


 1.Have at minimum of 3 years postgraduate radiography experience.
. 1. A management qualification or experience in management

Mammography experience and course

Living in or close to Cork

Irish/UK experience preferred
